Armed robbery reported near Plaza
Two people were robbed at gunpoint outside an apartment building in the West Plaza neighborhood of Kansas City late Monday night.
The robbery in the area of 45th Street and Madison Avenue was reported to Kansas City police about 10:10 p.m. Monday.
One of the victims said he was outside with his dog, talking to a friend, when the two suspects, one armed with a black handgun, walked up and ordered them to get on the ground.
The robbers took two cell phones and one victim’s wallet before fleeing.
The suspects were teenagers, and one appeared to be under the influence of some type of substance, according to one of the victims.
One of the phones was equipped with GPS, and it was traced to the area of Linwood Boulevard and Indiana Avenue. Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspects.
Both suspects were described as black, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and skinny. One wore a red hoodie. The other had on a gray T-shirt. Both wore baggy blue jeans.
