A 21-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl that left the victim pregnant.

Derek D. Bridgewater was charged in Jackson County Court with one count each of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and felonious restraint.

Prosecutors have requested a $150,000 bond.

According to court records, the victim disclosed in a forensic interview that the suspect took her to a relative’s house on South Benton in February and held a knife against her throat and threatened to kill her and her family if she did not stay the night.

Bridgewater is alleged to have cut the girl on the arm, recorded her performing oral sex on him and also raping her. She was allowed to leave to go to school, court records indicate.
