Fleeing vehicle critically injures pedestrian in Kansas City
A vehicle fleeing from Kansas City police hit and critically injured a person walking on a midtown Kansas City sidewalk Monday night.
Kansas City police said the incident began about 7:20 p.m. Monday near Linwood Boulevard and Bruce R. Watkins Drive when police tried to pull over the driver of an SUV.
The SUV drove off “at a high rate of speed,” according to police reports.
At the intersection of 39th Street and Troost Avenue, the SUV struck another vehicle. The SUV slid onto the sidewalk and struck two people.
One was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other person was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The incident is still under investigation.
