KC man accused of stealing from unlocked vehicles at Northland fitness center

A Kansas City man is in jail, accused of stealing in a string of thefts from vehicles.

T’Ahvalo Patterson, 22, is charged with four counts of theft and one count of receiving stolen property.

Prosecutors in Clay County allege Patterson targeted unlocked cars — including that of a Kansas City Police Department sergeant — at the Planet Fitness on Barry Road and North Oak Trafficway, according to court records.

Court documents allege Patterson’s first theft was Aug. 25. He is accused of hitting the area four more times within the span of two weeks, allegedly taking wallets, purses and electronics.

A warrant for Patterson’s arrest was issued Thursday, according to online court records.

In 2014, Patterson pleaded guilty to the unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.

He is being held on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Monday.
