Suspect sought in rash of Platte County auto thefts
The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted for questioning in connection with a series of motor vehicle thefts and break-ins.
The man was seen driving one of three automobiles he is suspected of stealing. All three vehicles have since been recovered in southern Platte County, authorities said.
The break-ins targeted autos in rural southern Platte County and in the Parkville and Weatherby Lake areas.
Platte County sheriffs believe other multiple break-ins occurred during the same time frame and may be related.
Police allege the man used a stolen credit card to purchase gasoline about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in Platte Woods.
Stolen credit cards have also been used in Kansas City, Kan., according to Platte County authorities.
