KC man guilty of pointing laser at Kansas City police helicopter

A Kansas City man pleaded guilty Thursday to a federal charge for pointing a laser at a Kansas City police helicopter.

Jordon Clarence Rogers, 26, admitted in his plea in U.S. District Court in Kansas City that he aimed the beam of a laser pointer at a police helicopter three times on Oct. 8, 2013.

According to federal prosecutors, the beam twice hit one of the pilots in the eye and caused the pilot to suffer “eye strain” for several hours.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. A sentencing date for Rogers has not been set.
