Nude photos part of blackmail scam claiming to involve Leawood police

Police on Tuesday warned of a blackmail scam involving unsolicited nude photos where the perpetrators claim to be with the Leawood Police Department.

Police said that two Kansas City area men connected online with a young female who said she was from Leawood. After a short period, the men received unsolicited nude photos from her.

Later in the day, a person claiming to the female’s father contacted the men and told them she was a juvenile. The person demanded money from the men or police would be notified.

The men refused to make payments and then received phone calls purportedly from Leawood police. The men contacted Leawood police, which is investigating the matter.

Police asked anyone who has information about the scam or who had been contacted in a similar manner to call Leawood police at 913-642-5555.
