Lee’s Summit’s new Costco store will open later this summer, the big-box retailer has announced.

The new location, which will be built near the Missouri 291-U.S. 50 interchange, is expected to open in August, Costco recently announced on its website.

Plans recently filed with the city show everything patrons have come to expect from one of the locations: a giant warehouse, a tire center, a sprawling parking lot and a gas station area. Inside the warehouse, the store would have the typical hearing and optical areas, a food service area, a bakery, coolers and, of course, long rows of merchandise, plans show.

The store would be the Kansas City metro’s sixth Costco location.

The retailer recently filed plans with Kansas City making official its plans to convert its midtown location at 241 Linwood Blvd. into a business center and remove features like the pharmacy, food court, tire center, optical center and bakery. Local officials have pleaded with Costco to reconsider.
