Lee’s Summit police searching for driver of vehicle that struck, injured cop

Lee’s Summit police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that allegedly struck a police officer Saturday evening.

The officer suffered minor injuries. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the 100 block of Southwest Donovan Road, police said in a social media post Thursday afternoon. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, and the driver fled, police said.

Police said the driver was a woman age 16-24 and was in a 2007 to 2011 gray Toyota Camry that had damage to its right rear bumper.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the incident. Police released images that showed two people in the front seat of a vehicle and said they were blurring out their faces “in an abundance of caution as they were involved in an incident with juveniles at a suspected house party.”

“We realize this makes a possible ID more difficult,” the department said.
