Lee’s Summit City Council to consider Legacy Blast boost, updated city fees
Lee’s Summit City Council members will consider bolstering the budget for the city’s Legacy Blast celebration and an updated slate of city fees at their Tuesday night meeting.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. Those interested in the proceedings can attend in-person at Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., or watch online, through the city’s YouTube channel and website, WatchLS.net.
Among the items city council members will consider:
- A budget amendment to boost the city’s Legacy Blast Independence Day celebration event with around $38,000 in additional funding. The added money would bring the city’s budget for the event to $93,000, which will cover things like fireworks, entertainment, buses and security, according to city documents.
- A $4.3 million contract with the contractor Ideker for the city’s fiscal year 2027 mill and overlay paving program. About 40 miles of city roads would be restored under the contract.
- A $1.3 million contract with the contractor Vance Brothers for the city’s fiscal year 2027 surface seal paving program. About 37 miles of city roads would be treated under the contract.
- Approval of a rezoning and a preliminary development plan for a roughly 10,400-square-foot office/warehouse building in the business park at Missouri Route 291 and SE 30th Street.
- A new schedule of fees and charges for various city transactions that would increase costs for various permits, planning work, utility connections, using the Kansas City - Lee’s Summit Regional Airport and more.
