Lee’s Summit to consider plans for apartments, buying gear for first responders
Lee’s Summit City Council members will consider plans for a handful of housing projects in the city as well as contracts for equipment for first responders at their meeting Tuesday night.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. Those interested in the proceedings can attend in-person at Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 Southeast Green Street, or watch online, through the city’s YouTube channel and website, WatchLS.net.
Among the items city council members will consider:
- Plans for building out Paragon Star Village with a 400-unit apartment complex to be constructed in three phases and a 500-stall parking garage near the View High Drive-Interstate 470 interchange. The project is being developed by the group Grayson Capital. Council members will consider approvals that would implement tax incentives for the projects.
- A rezoning request and a preliminary development plan for Legacy Ridge, a development that has proposed a swath of housing — including nearly 200 single-family homes, roughly 90 townhomes for sale, 90 townhomes for rent and about 130 “age-targeted villas,” as well as commercial space — on 131 acres near the intersection of Ward Road and Hook Road, close to Lee’s Summit West High School.
- Lease agreements for a phase of development within East Village, a large project Drake Development is pursuing that includes plans for a new Costco store, apartments, townhomes and other businesses near the U.S. Highway 50-Missouri Route 291 interchange, which would implement tax incentives for the effort.
- Approvals for purchasing firefighting and police equipment (around $200,000 and $5.5 million, respectively).
