The Lee’s Summit City Council is expected to consider a package of tax incentives Tuesday requested by a company that’s planning a large warehouse expansion off Thompson Drive.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. Those interested in the proceedings can attend in-person at Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 Southeast Green Street, or watch online, through the city’s YouTube channel and website, WatchLS.net.

Among the items city council members will review:

  • Mid-States Distributing — which operates a network of farm, ranch and home retailers and has a large warehouse site off Missouri Route 291 — is proposing a 465,000-square-foot addition to its existing space and is asking the city to sign off on a package of roughly $4.8 million in tax exemptions to help fund the project, according to meeting documents. The company has said the expansion would allow it to create around 90 new jobs.
  • A rezoning and preliminary plans for Legacy Ridge, a housing development that has proposed a swath of single-family homes, apartments and commercial space on 131 acres near the intersection of Ward Road and Hook Road, close to Lee’s Summit West High School. City documents indicate the project applicant, Griffin Riley Property Group, has requested that plans be sent back to Planning Commission to allow for a revised application.

Tuesday’s agenda can be viewed online on the city’s website.
