Hop down to it: Lee’s Summit Easter event brings a bit of spring to downtown area
Bring your Easter baskets and hop around Downtown Lee’s Summit to celebrate spring and create lasting memories.
The annual Downtown Bunny Hop is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 16 in downtown Lee’s Summit. The event begins on Third Street, and travels throughout downtown toward Howard Station Park. Bring your camera to capture photos of your kids with the Easter Bunny, who is bouncing around until 11:30 a.m. in the park.
Downtown businesses will participate by handing out candy after the parade, so be sure to bring your Easter baskets as you travel door to door.
This spring event is returning from a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic . Its return is great for community residents who look forward to the event each year, said Julie Cook, events and promotions director for Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street. This event is a fun way to bring people together for the spring and Easter season, Cook said.
“Bringing the community together is a fun way to celebrate Easter,” Cook said. “We encourage people to enjoy the historic downtown, and have a special visit with the Easter Bunny. It’s great to bring smiles to so many kids’ faces, and be part of their childhood traditions.”
Cheryl Collier, owner of KD’s Books, said the event is a fun way to bring the community together while celebrating the season and supporting downtown businesses.
“Events like these reinforce the fact that we have a very viable downtown community,” Collier said. “Kids enjoy it, and adults feel the same way. The community loves and supports these fun events; businesses gain traffic; and children and families make memories to last a lifetime.”
Downtown Lee’s Summit Mainstreet hosts this event. It’s a nonprofit that promotes, enhances and preserves the heart of the city by cultivating a diverse mix of businesses, public spaces and family friendly events. To learn more about Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, visit downtownls.org.
