About 500 people will gather for a night sure to bring joy. Those attending will enjoy food, games and raffles, all while supporting Lee’s Summit schools.

Guests will enjoy local fare, an auction, raffle among other events at the 23 annual Taste of Lee’s Summit, 6 p.m. March 5, at the Pavilion at John Knox Village. The event supports Lee’s Summit R-7 School District students. Tickets are $75, and proceeds from the event go toward Promote Excellence and Knowledge (PEAK) Grants for teachers, classroom technology, assistance to families in need, scholarships and more.

Director of the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation, Chrissy Symes, said the event is a fun way for the community to come together to benefit students, teachers and families.

“It’s so amazing that so many community leaders and citizens come out to support students and teachers through the work we do at the foundation,” Symes said. “We feel so grateful that local restaurants see the value in providing support and being part of this event.”

A highlight of this year is science kits for kindergarten through fifth-grade students for the 2022 to 2023 school year, Symes said. Proceeds from the event will help fund science kits across the district, providing students with new resources for the upcoming school year.

“Being able to host an event that provides students with more supplies and opportunities for success is something that the foundation looks forward to each year,” Symes said. “People like to champion our school district and donate items for auction, their time and their money to a great cause.”

The Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation hosts the event. The Lee’s Summit Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises private funds to help support programs within the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District. The foundation has a variety of sponsors that help keep the organization running. The group’s mission is to generate and guide philanthropic resources to promote education excellence in Lee’s Summit Schools.
