Summit Tech open houses will explain career programs
Summit Technology Academy is hosting a series of open houses, starting next week, so high school students and their families can explore the educational opportunities at the academy, which helps students get a jump on high-demand careers.
Although operated by the Lee’s Summit School District, Summit Technology Academy is open to students from surrounding districts as well. The half-day program serves juniors and seniors.
Families can pick one of three sessions: Nov. 15, Jan. 10 or Feb. 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Missouri Innovation Campus, 1101 N.W .Innovation Parkway, near Tudor and Ward roads in Lee’s Summit. RSVPs are welcomed but not required.

Summit Technology Academy offers programs in software development, cyber security, network engineering, allied health, professional nursing, biomedical science, digital media, aerospace, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering, teacher preparation, hospitality management and international studies. The course of study includes real-world experience and dual college credit.
The open houses include breakout sessions on:
▪ The International Baccalaureate Career-Related Program.
▪ The Cerner Scholars Program.
▪ The University of Kansas Degree in 3.
▪ The University of Central Missouri Nursing Fast Track.
▪ Early Planners (middle school and freshmen students).

‘Addams Family’ at Lee’s Summit North
Lee’s Summit North High School kicks off its drama season this weekend with the musical comedy, “The Addams Family.” Based on the characters from the TV series of the same name, this musical follows Gomez and Morticia’s daughter, Wednesday Addams, as she grows up, meets a preppy boy and begins to see the world in brighter colors.
The PG-rated show will be performed at 7 p.m. Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 17 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 11.
