Application period for Community Development Block Grant opens Jan. 16

The city of Lee’s Summit announced recently that applications for funding for the 2018-19 Community Development Block Grant program will be accepted from Jan. 16 through Feb. 16, 2018.

The grant funds are provided to the city annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to meet the needs of low-to-moderate income individuals and families, to address slum or blight in Lee’s Summit, and to meet an urgent need.

Application forms will be available on the city’s website at cityofLS.net beginning Jan. 4. Funds will become available after July 1.

Public or not-for-profit agencies may apply to support eligible programs and projects. For-profit entities also may be eligible for consideration.

Agencies considering submitting funding applications are required to attend the city’s pre-application orientation in order to be an eligible applicant.

The 2018-19 Community Development Block Grant pre-application orientation is scheduled for 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Jan. 8 in the Strother Conference Room in Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 S.E. Green St.
