Things for once started out well for Friday night for Lee’s Summit. They just didn’t end well.

Lee’s Summit scored two touchdowns in the first quarter – one not even a minute into the game - but Fort Osage scored the next 35 points for a 35-14 victory over the Tigers at Fort Osage.

Lee’s Summit, 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the Suburban Gold Conference, took a 7-0 lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by Caden Perry with 11:05 left in the first quarter. Perry’s score came two plays after Lee’s Summit senior Somaj Brewer returned the opening kickoff to the Fort Osage 7-yard line.

Lee’s Summit made it 14-0 with a 1-yard TD run by Preston Whitworth later in the quarter, but the Tigers failed to find the end zone after that. Fort Osage scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 21-14 lead at halftime and added TDs in the third and fourth quarter.

Whitworth finished with 138 rushing yards on 29 carries for Lee’s Summit, and Brewer had 63 receiving yards on two catches. Brewer was one of four Tigers to catch passes from quarterback Darrias Pearsall, who completed 10 of 22 passes for 158 yards.

Ty Baker completed 16 of 23 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown for Fort Osage, which improved to 3-0 on the season. Isaiah Iloilo rushed for two touchdowns and Dominic Myers made four catches for 82 yards for the Indians.

Lee’s Summit will play host to Columbia Rock Bridge Friday night at Bud Hertzog Stadium.
