What a privilege and honor it is to be a part of something exciting and new in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School is the first Catholic high school built in the Diocese in 52 years.

And what a wonderful opportunity to be present here in the Lee’s Summit Community. St. Michael the Archangel will be a 21st century learning environment, rooted in our Catholic culture and values.

Our ultimate goal in life is to get to heaven, as Pope Francis has said: “The whole journey of life is a journey of preparation for heaven.”

Truth, love and service are at the heart of our mission statement” “Through Jesus Christ, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School calls young men and women to embrace their God-given gifts in order to KNOW TRUTH, LOVE GOD, AND SERVE OTHERS as His brave and humble disciples.”

Know truth: St. Michael the Archangel boldly responds to our call to know truth in a passionately Catholic environment. We do not seek only to fill our students’ minds with knowledge of facts. Our intent is to “form heroically virtuous disciples” through learning by encountering the one who is the author of truth: Jesus Christ. This is the very foundation of our faith. The goal of true education is to draw students through their understanding of the created world into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, through whom and for whom all was created.

Love God: When Our Lord Jesus was asked, “which is the greatest of the commandments?” he replied, “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind.” (Matthew 22:36-38). Our students will build relationships with Our Lord, through the sacraments, daily prayer, adoration and scheduled retreats.

Serve others: And the second commandment is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39) We teach through action that we cannot separate our love for God from our love for our neighbor.

Authentic virtue formation leads us not only to religious devotion, but also to lives of charity, to the service of both God and neighbor. Our Christian Service Program will keep our students grounded in the works of mercy. This experience not only develops important problem solving and leadership skills, but it helps students look beyond themselves and into the hearts of others with Christ-like compassion.

Selecting a high school is one of the most important decisions a family can make. We believe choosing a Catholic high school is the best choice for those families wishing to pursue the development of the whole person for their children. We look forward to working within the greater community of Lee’s Summit to provide an outstanding option for a solid and authentic Catholic education.
