Symphony features guest soloist

Lane closures delayed

The schedule for Interstate 470 lane closures has been moved to July 31, when work will begin on shoulder reconstruction in preparation for repairing 11 bridges from Blue Ridge Boulevard to Interstate 70.

The bridge work is expected to start in mid August.

The single lane closures will be 24/7 for a few days at each work location, reducing the number of lanes along I-470. Delays will be encountered and the Missouri Department of Transportation encourages motorists to plan ahead and select alternate routes. All work is weather permitting.

Opera singer to perform with Lee’s Summit Symphony

Anna Christine Woiward, who recently performed at the Geneva Light Opera and will head to New York this fall, will sing with her hometown orchestra Aug. 3.

Woiward will be the featured entertainer at the Crystal Celebration at the John Knox Pavilion. The event celebrates the 15th season of the Lee’s Summit Symphony and is open to the public.

A graduate of Lee’s Summit North High School, Woiward attended Southeast Missouri State University, followed by graduate school at the University of Northern Colorado earning her master’s in music. She has performed numerous roles in works such as Amahl and the Night Visitors, Cosi Fan Tutte, Don Giovanni and others.

The doors open at 6 p.m. at The Pavilion at John Knox Village, 520 N.W. Murray Road. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for students and are available at Lee’s Summit Hy-Vee stores or at lssymphony.org
