Bus mechanic is No. 1 in Missouri

Mike Walker, a mechanic with the Lee’s Summit School District Transportation Department, won first place in the annual Missouri Best Technician Competition, held earlier this month in Columbia.

The competition, sponsored by the Missouri Association of Pupil Transportation, is an intense analysis of a school bus technician’s ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair various mechanical components on buses such as electrical systems, engines, braking systems and drive trains.

As the state winner, Walker is eligible to compete at the national level next November in Ohio.
