Overland Park apartment complex sells for $18.6 million

Apartments sold

The Town Center Apartments, a 156-unit complex at 6233 W. 120th St. in Overland Park, has been sold for $18.6 million, according to Marcus & Millichap, the commercial real estate firm that handled the transaction.

A Detroit-area partnership reportedly sold the complex to a partnership affiliated with CRES Management LLC of Kansas City. The sales prices equates to about $119,000 per unit.

The apartment complex, built in 1997, is composed of 20, two-story buildings and is near the Sprint campus.The complex features one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.

“At the time of the sale, the property was operating at near capacity and is well positioned to continue to do so for the foreseeable future,” said David Gaines, vice president of investments for Marcus & Millichap in Chicago.

Champion for children

Joe Tillery, 15, of Overland Park, has been named the 2015 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion Ambassador representing the state of Kansas.

Every year, each of the 170-member hospitals nationwide and in Canada nominate a child to represent their home state on a national platform to illustrate the impact of the network and why donations are needed for treatment, recovery and charitable care.

Joe, who has cystic fibrosis, will represent the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of Greater Kansas City, which benefits the University of Kansas Medical Center’s pediatrics program.

Sports leader

The city of Overland Park has been selected as one of the nation’s award-winning sports destinations, according to SportsEvents Media Group, which represents sports event planners. This is the fourth consecutive year Overland Park has been recognized by the organization.

In 2014, the city hosted more than 100,000 athletes, fans, families and coaches at sporting events, including dance, cheerleading, soccer, basketball, baseball, and racquetball.
