Constuction underway on apartments at Tallgrass Creek retirement community
Construction has started on an 87-unit apartment residence at the Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park. The Meadowlark Terrace residence building will offer 10 floor plans that vary in size and style, ranging from luxury two-bedroom units to more modest one-bedroom apartments. Tallgrass Creek said 75 percent of the apartments have already been reserved.
The residence center is to open in late 2014. Lantz-Boggio is the architect, and Brinkmann Constructors is the general contractor. Tallgrass Creek currently has more than 300 residents.
Wind projectTradeWind Energy Inc. has acquired an Oklahoma wind farm from NTR plc for $60 million. TradeWind is based in Lenexa. The 150-megawatt wind farm in Osage, Okla., will start commercial operation in 2015. It will sell its entire power output to Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. in Springfield, NTR said in a news release.
Childrens Lighthouse Learning Centers will open a location in Olathe in May. The center is at 135th and Greenwood streets near Interstate 35. The franchise owners are Jared and Aspen Robb. The new center will offer classroom and group activity settings, on-site meal services and play areas inside and outside. It will serve families with children from ages 6 weeks to 12 years. In addition to child care during traditional school hours, the Olathe center will provide after-school programs and summer camps.
Childrens Lighthouse is based in Fort Worth, Texas, and currently has 36 centers, with plans for 25 franchise locations.
