Water district ratingsMoody’s Investors Sservice has assigned an Aa1 rating to $90 million in revenue bonds for the Johnson County Water District No. 1. Proceeds from the bond sale will be used to finance construction of a new pump station and reservoir along with related infrastructure. Moody’s said the rating and stable financial outlook partly reflects the district’s “diverse and affluent customer base, well-managed financial position, (and) the board’s demonstrated willingness and ability to set rates to provide debt service.”
Patent victoryThe Overland Park law firm of Hovey Williams LLP said it won a 13-day jury trial on behalf of longtime client Great Plains Manufacturing Inc., which was involved in a patent infringement suit filed by Deere Co. The suit, filed in 2009 in Iowa, alleged that Salina-based Great Plains infringed on a Deere patent for certain rotary cutters. According to the law firm, a jury found that Great Plains did not infringe on any of the alleged patent violations.
