Business briefs: AT&T donates to Johnson County Community College
AT&T donation
AT&T has donated $15,000 to Johnson County Community College to support a technology-based pilot program for students in English as a Second Language courses. The program will student the benefits of integrating tablet computers, e-textbooks and digital applications into English language courses. The college’s non-native speaking students represent about 100 countries, the college said.
Park bonds
Moody’s Investors Service has issued an Aa2 rating on $2.5 million in bonds being issued by the Johnson County Parks & Recreation District. Proceeds from the bonds will be used to help finance the construction of a police/visitor’s services building. Moody’s said the rating reflects the parks districts’ “large and wealthy tax base...and well-managed financial operatiionis with healthy resources.”
Lawrence hospital
Moody’s has affirmed its rating on $46 million of debt from Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and said the hospital’s financial outlook remains stable. The rating service said the stable outlook “reflects our expectations that (Lawrence Memorial) will continue to generate good operating margins...and maintain its distinctly leading market position.”
