Olathe public schools honoring three alumni

Three alumni of Olathe public schools will be honored at the 2016 “Wall of Honor” banquet on Oct. 4 at the Ball Conference Center.

The Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association’s honorees:

▪ James Kean, real estate developer, John P. St. John Memorial High School class of 1956.

▪ Michael Knop, insurance marketer, Olathe High School class of 1966.

▪ Hugh Speer, longtime supporter of education, Red Brick School class of 1924.

In addition, the alumni association has named two “Distinguished Persons of Honor” recipients. They are retired music teacher Texanna Ollenberger, and the late Margaret Barron, a longtime school nurse and health director.

Ollenberger worked for the district for 32 years, while Barron’s career spanned about 26 years.

The Persons of Honor award recognizes individuals who did not graduate from the district but provided exceptional service and support over many years.

Tickets for the banquet are $35. Sponsorships are available for $1,000.
