Olathe School District honored for business, financial excellence

School district honored

The business division of Olathe School District has received two awards from the Association of School Business Officials International. The division was recognized for excellence in budget presentation, and it was honored for excellence in financial reporting. Both awards are presented to school districts that have met or exceeded the award criteria.

Transportation work highlighted

The Kansas Department of Transportation said three of its planning studies have been recognized for excellence by two engineering associations.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Kansas presented the state highway department two awards for looking at future development and traffic congestion in the Kansas City area. In addition, a five-county regional transportation study was recognized by the KC Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

Health department accreditation

Culminating a more than two-year effort, the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment has become the first public health department in the state to earn accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board. The county department said it is one of 44 health departments nationwide to meet the national standards, and it is the second in the four-state region of Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri to earn the honor.
