Gardner passes sales tax extension
Gardner voters approved an extension of the city’s 10-year-old half-cent sales tax, according to unofficial final results announced Tuesday.
The mail-in ballot was due noon Tuesday. Sixty-three percent of city voters approved the measure with 1,498 votes for, compared to 882 votes against.
The sales tax originally was approved to build a city park and aquatic center. With the 10-year extension, the sales tax will be used to repair city streets, sidewalks and trails.
