The northbound ramp to Interstate 35 from 151st Street in Olathe has reopened to drivers after it took crews hours to clear a crash involving a semi truck, police said.

The Olathe Police Department said on social media around 3:15 p.m. that a semi truck had overturned, alerting drivers to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

Investigators are working to determine what led to the crash. Troop A of the Kansas Highway Patrol posted a photo of the scene around 3 p.m. showing an overturned semi hauling what appeared to be trash.

“No need to talk trash, when this picture says it all! A reminder not to take turns too quickly,” the Highway Patrol’s social media post said, implying the crash happened as the semi took a turn onto the northbound ramp.

A spokesperson for the Highway Patrol said the driver of the semi truck was not injured in the crash and no other vehicles are believed to be involved.

Around 6:50 p.m. Friday, the Highway Patrol posted an update on social media saying the ramp was clear and back open to traffic.
