The Olathe Public Schools Board of Education is meeting at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at the district Education Center, 14160 South Black Bob Road.

You can watch a livestream of the meeting on the district’s YouTube page.

Agendas can be found online ahead of the meetings. They are typically available by the Monday before each meeting.

The school board meets the first Thursday of each month at the Education Center, unless otherwise specified.

This week’s meeting will include swearing in Becky Johann, a member of the board re-elected this past November. The board will also hear presentations for awards earned by students and staff, and vote to approve a yearly financial audit.

Members of the public can sign up to make comments during the meeting by calling the clerk of the board at 913-780-8049 or emailing bbehmec@olatheschools.org. Requests to address the board during a regular board meeting must be made by noon the day of the meeting.

Meeting agenda items for Feb. 5

Among other items on the agenda, the board will discuss:

  • A staff presentation determining the appropriate number of schools in the district. At its January 2026 meeting, the board asked district staff for a plan that outlines, “the process, timeline, key decision points, and opportunities for staff and community involvement, aligned with enrollment trends and fiscal responsibility,” the agenda item reads.
  • Approval of a lengthy consent agenda with eight different student trips and other items.
  • Purchasing new uninterruptible power supply equipment to replace existing ones in the district. The devices provide a power source in the case of power outages to maintain phones and networks.

The Board will also consider approving a yearly financial audit, updates to Board policies and implementing a new policy recognizing deceased students at graduation.
