They have tons of love to give. Meet these pets from Wayside Waifs, Pawsitive Tails

Birdo
Birdo Special to The Star

Birdo

Breed: Pit bull terrier, shepherd mix

Age: 5 months old

Research is inconclusive as to whether dogs technically have a sense of humor. We are sure, though, that this girl does.

She’ll probably be around 60 pounds or more, and she’ll definitely make you laugh. Birdo is obsessed with playing in the hose. No matter what else is going on, when you’re out in the yard and you get the hose out, she is bananas for it.

She’s a smart kid. She has taken to learning basic commands quickly and knows sit, come and down. She’s also almost there on the potty training front.Your house needs more smiles, doesn’t it? Birdo is here for that. She is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. Her adoption fee is $275. Meet and greets are scheduled once you’re approved to adopt at PawsitiveTails.

Carol
Carol Teryn Jones Special to The Star

Carol

Breed: Labrador retriever

Age: 1 year old

This sweet chocolate lab came to Wayside Waifs after living her whole life in a puppy mill. She was so scared when she first arrived: Everything was brand new to her. Luckily, we enrolled her in our Confidence College program that continues to help her face fears and become braver each and every day.

She has learned that people can be pretty awesome. Once she gets to know you, she is super loving and cuddly. She’s also pretty good at loose leash walking now. She has started to learn how to feel comfortable in a crate, and she enjoys food and treats.

Dogs make her a little uncomfortable, so she prefers to be your only canine companion. Carol has so much love to give, and life is new for her every day. She is looking for a patient, calm adopter to help her through the fun part of life.

Artico
Artico Macey Franko Special to The Star

Artico

Breed: Siamese

Age: 3 years old

Handsome Artico has the most beautiful eyes. He originally came to Wayside in July when his family could no longer care for him. They had fallen on rough times and had to make the difficult decision to bring him to Wayside.

While he understands, transitioning to the shelter was still rather difficult. Here he was unsure of his surroundings, and didn’t want to be the sweet and inquisitive boy we heard he was. That’s when his foster mom came to the rescue. Now, Artico is thriving. He feels in control of his surroundings and he is showing his true personality.

He loves being pet and cuddling on his foster mom’s lap. The key was that his foster mom allowed him to have the time he needed to get used to his space. Once he gets to know you, you’ll have a friend for life. Call 816-986-4426 to schedule a time to meet Artico.
