Frontier Pool opening delayed

The opening of the City of Olathe’s Frontier Pool, originally scheduled for Memorial Day, has been delayed until further notice due to the discovery of a major leak.

Black Bob Bay, Millcreek and Oregon Trail pools, opened on Memorial Day.

“This is a most unfortunate situation we are facing at Frontier Pool this summer,” said Michael Meadors, Parks & Recreation director in a media statement.

The community has other swim and play opportunities at its other pools. Meadors said.

“The good news is we have three other outdoor pools with water slides, interactive sprayers and zero depth entry to meet the Memorial Day and early summer needs of our Olathe families. I am confident the Olathe residents will be patient with us as we do all we can to open this grand ole’ pool.”

Any citizen who has already purchased an outdoor pool pass membership that allows usage of all City pools with plans of only using Frontier Pool can call the Olathe Community Center at 913-971-8563 to discuss refund options.

Frontier Pool, which was originally constructed in 1974, has required significant repairs the last few years. The City will notify residents and patrons as soon as an opening date is determined.

Further updates on the status of Frontier Pool will be provided as they become available on OlatheKS.org and City social media channels.
