On Saturday, Leawood’s Park Place development transforms into a street fair celebrating food, music and art from across the globe.

The fifth annual “Around the World” block party will close down Ash Street and 116th Place to make room for two stages, street performances, a fashion show and food tents operated by Park Place restaurants such as 801 Chophouse, Carma, Gordon Biersch, Mestizo, Pig & Finch, Parisi Cafe and RA Sushi.

Those who attend the free block party, which starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m., will be able to roam Park Place with drinks in hand (even if those drinks are margaritas or German-style lagers).

The entertainment lineup at “Around the World” is about as diverse as the street fair’s food and drink offerings. Expect performances by a mariachi band, an opera singer, aerial acrobats, fire dancers, a bagpiper, a belly dancer and a reggae band, among others.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City Affiliate.
