WaterOne vacancy

WaterOne is taking applications to replace board member Dick Noon of Leawood, who died died Dec. 9.

WaterOne is a public utility whose governing board members have been elected at-large by voters in spring municipal elections. Noon’s term expires in 2019, but because state lawmakers recently changed the election schedule, his successor will be up for election in the fall of 2019 and assume office in January 2020.

The utility has until Feb. 17 to name a replacement for Noon. The appointee will be chosen by the six remaining members of the board. The board will narrow the field of applicants and meet publicly in January or February to interview finalists and make a decision.

Noon was first elected to the board in 1995 and served as its chairman from 1995-97.

Applications will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 4 and can be found at http://www.waterone.org /about-us/the-board.
