All creatures great and small: cute holiday pet photos

Angel: What cat doesn’t love to bat ornaments? Certainly not this kitty, owned by Linda Crown of Parkville. She was 7 when this photo was taken; she’s 16 now. “She’s always sleeping under the tree,” Linda says. “I have pictures of her under the tree back from many years.”

We expected the dogs in Santa hats, and we were not a bit surprised to see the cats peeking out from under (or in) the Christmas tree.

But the horses, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and birds caught us by surprise. As did the hedgehog, duck, rat, rabbit and lizard decked out for the holidays.

More than 150 readers responded to our request to send in images of festive holiday pets. It was difficult to choose which ones to print, they were all so sweet and funny. We’re hoping these images make you smile and bring a bit of cheer to your holidays. To see the whole kit (or kitten) and caboodle (or poodle), visit mingle.kansascity.com/
