A “cherished” Texas longhorn at an Overland Park farm has died, according to the farm’s social media page.

Annie was a “staple” at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead in Overland Park throughout her 15 years at the farm, according to a Facebook post.

The longhorn was a companion to the farmstead’s bison, Sonni, and took a young bison, Tatanka, “under her wing” when the calf arrived at Deanna Rose in 2018.

For the last several years, “her golden years,” the farm said, Annie could be found with the cattle near the farmstead’s dairy barn.

Staff and volunteers at Deanna Rose remembered Annie as a “gentle giant.”

“Annie would always lower her head to ask for scratches behind and between her horns,” the post said. “Her sweet, calm presence made a lasting impression, and she will be sincerely missed by her care team, staff, volunteers and guests alike.”
