Johnson County investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who died three years ago in hopes of reuniting him with loved ones.

The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment said on social media this week that the man was found dead in April 2023 near U.S. 69 Highway beneath the 103rd Street overpass in Overland Park.

According to the post, the man was approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build. The post included a composite sketch of the man and a photo of a tattoo on the back of his left shoulder.

In their 2023 investigation into his death, Overland Park police said they did not suspect foul play in the man’s death. He appeared to be between the ages of 35 and 45, a police spokesman said at the time.

In an interaction with an Overland Park police officer weeks before his death, the man allegedly told the officer his name was Alberto Gomez. However, investigators have not been able to confirm that identity, the post said.

“By posting this information again, we are hoping someone recognizes him so we can return him to his loved ones and he can be put to rest,” the Departmet of Health and Environment said on social media.

Anyone with information about the man or his family is urged to contact county investigators at 913-826-3511 or email meoinvestigators@jocogov.org.
