Amber

Breed: Domestic shorthair/tabby

Age: 3 years old

This stunning beauty has a coat of rich brown, black, and golden hues. Her captivating green eyes are mesmerizing. Behind that gaze is an incredibly sweet and gentle girl just waiting to be known.

Amber, in the care of Melissa’s Second Chances, is an independent spirit who enjoys the quiet comforts of home life. While she may be shy with new people at first, with a little patience and kindness, she begins to open up — and might even share a soft little “conversation” once she feels safe. Previously adopted and returned due to her people’s allergies, Amber is now ready for a second chance with someone who truly sees her for the wonderful cat she is.

She’s affectionate on her own terms, preferring calm companionship and cozy nap spots to constant attention. Window lounging is one of her favorite pastimes. She enjoys the occasional play session and is incredibly gentle — so much so that she allows herself to be carried like a ragdoll. Amber hasn’t lived with other cats recently but was playful with her littermates as a kitten. She has also adapted well to life with a dog, observing from a respectful distance with calm curiosity.

If you’re looking for a serene, low-maintenance companion who brings quiet joy and grace into your home, Amber might be the one.

Randy

Breed: Mixed

Age: 10 months

Randy is a fabulous guy who navigates the world around him with charisma and positive energy, despite being deaf. He is super smart and would love to learn visual cues to better communicate what his family is asking him to do. This handsome boy also has the most amazing eyes. They will definitely capture your heart. His bouncy energy is matched by his love of life. He enjoys other dogs who play fair and aren’t too overbearing. He is looking for a home that can offer some structure, training and patience with his hearing disability.

Randy is also available for a Slumber Pawty. This is an in-home stay of seven to 10 days before the adoption is finalized, to make sure it’s a good fit for the shelter pet and the prospective adopter family.

Carebear

Breed: Domestic shorthair

Age: 3 years

Carebear is a playful cat who loves watching videos of birds and fish. He enjoys mentally stimulating activities — like puzzles made for cats — to keep his mind fresh and busy. He is also the ultimate explorer and adventurer, and he loves to chase things that move. Carebear is not your average long cat napper; keeping busy is what he does best. He also enjoys his independence. Carebear is FIV+ which means to stay healthy he needs to be an indoor cat. If you’re looking for a clever cat, meet Carebear today at Wayside Waifs.

Wayside Waifs is able to welcome visitors without an appointment. To learn about the adoption process and available animals, go here.
