Breed: Domestic shorthair

Age: 2 years

If you enjoy good conversation, watching videos and indulging in treats (particularly catnip), Gemma might just be your purrfect match.

They find comfort in having each other close and are looking for a quiet home environment with children who are 10 years or older. They will need some patience as they adjust to a new home life, but once they do, they are all conversation and play. If you are looking for a fun cat-duo meet Gemma and Dinky today at Wayside Waifs.

Blossom
Blossom

Blossom

Breed: German shepherd

Age: 3 years, 7 months

If you are looking for a partner in life to explore and experience new adventures, Blossom might be the dog for you. She is very smart and knows some basic commands. She is motivated to learn more and likes to use her brain to figure things out. Blossom would be a great walking buddy and has a gentle and sweet nature. Consider meeting her at Wayside Waifs.

Blossom is also available for a Slumber Paw-ty: an overnight stay of seven to 10 days before finalizing adoption, to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone.

Frank
Frank

Frank

Breed: Shepherd mix

Age: 10 years old

Frank is looking for a calm, loving home to spend his golden years. He’s a perfect medium size at 35 pounds. While he might be a little shy at first, once Frank settles in, he’s calm, gentle and incredibly well-behaved.

Frank spent eight wonderful years with his previous family before life circumstances changed. He’s used to home life and knows how to be a great companion. He sleeps most of the day, can be left alone for up to nine hours without trouble (as long as tempting snacks are out of reach), and is eager to please his people. He’s playful when engaged, food-motivated and doesn’t go looking for mischief.

Frank can get anxious with lots of visitors, especially children he doesn’t know, and he may bark or jump when he’s feeling overwhelmed. He’s currently living peacefully with a young child he knows well, but would prefer a quieter home without a lot of unfamiliar kids coming and going.

Frank is also working on his leash manners — he tends to bark and pull when he sees strangers on walks. Frank gets along great with other dogs when he’s allowed to greet them freely and has enjoyed spending time at doggy daycare and boarding facilities. He would do best in a home without cats.

If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion who’s past all the puppy nonsense but still loves a little playtime, Frank could be your guy.

To fill out an adoption application for Frank, go to mscrescue.org/adopt/. Melissa’s Second Chances is a nonprofit animal rescue in Shawnee. The group finds homes and safe refuge for animals in need of a second chance to be beloved family pets

Wayside Waifs is able to welcome visitors without an appointment. To learn about the adoption process and available animals, go here. The Wayside Waifs Adoptathon event runs Friday through Sunday. All pet adoptions are only $20 during this three-day event.
