‘Ribbon cutting’ celebrates completion of K-10 interchange and College Boulevard improvements

Kansas Department of Transportation on Tuesday celebrated completion of the Kansas 10 and Ridgeview Road diverging diamond interchange and College Boulevard improvements as part of the $288 million Johnson County Gateway project at the Interstate 435/Interstate 35/Kansas 10 interchange, which is used by more than 230,000 vehicles a day.

College Boulevard was widened from two to four lanes from Renner Boulevard to Ridgeview Road. The road will serve as a detour while construction continues on K-10.

The “ribbon cutting” was at the new Olathe Convention Center, which will open this fall at the southeast corner of the new K-10 and Ridgeview Road interchange. The city of Lenexa plans to extend Ridgeview Road north of the interchange to Prairie Star Parkway.

KDOT also announced that the new flyover bridge ramp from eastbound K-10 to northbound I-435 is scheduled to open to all traffic by earlier next week.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
