Ready to adopt? A loving dog and cat are ready to take on whatever life throw at them
Rue
Breed: Pit bull terrier mix
Age: 1 year old
Rue is a happy, silly, friendly guy. His favorite thing is hanging out with his human friends, but he enjoys bouncing around and playing with toys, too. He came to Wayside as a stray, and has been working hard to be the best dog he can be. He is smart, eager to please, and ready to take on whatever life throws at him.
He’s really working on his house-training skills at the shelter, and enjoys going on field trips with his volunteer friends. He also walks well on leash, and enjoys working on his training. He will thrive in a positive, consistent environment with praise and tasty treats. Did we mention he is dog friendly? He enjoys the company of other energetic, playful dogs, but it is best to bring in your dog to meet Rue to make sure they are a good fit for each other.
Are you looking for an exercise partner, an entertainer and a new best friend? Look no further than Rue.
Mittens
Breed: Domestic shorthair mix
Age: 2 years old
Mittens is ready to steal your heart. He made his way to Wayside in October from south Missouri. He has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite, because he can be shy at first, but once he warms up, he is full of love and cuddles. He is so affectionate, and enjoys all the pets and attention.
He would do best in a quiet environment, and would likely take some time to adjust to a new home. But he is worth the wait. Mittens also likes watching videos on tablets, so get ready to turn on Netflix and chill with this guy. He likes toys, especially wand toys with feathers. Another bonus: He has done well with cats in a previous foster home.
Mittens does have special medical needs. He will require regular dental care and he has a heart condition. Our adoptions team can discuss it further with potential adopters, but it requires no medication. He just needs his future family to keep an eye on him for when things flare up. He will happily cuddle you as a thank you.
