Wayside Waifs, Melissa’s Second Chances have cats and dogs ready to soak up attention

Minzy
Minzy Special to The Star

Minzy

Breed: Domestic shorthair mix, tortoiseshell

Age: 2 years old

Minzy is a calm, sweet gal. She was found as a stray and made her way to Wayside Waifs. Adjusting to shelter life was hard for Minzy, but she’s warmed up to her office buddy. She can be pretty shy at first, but once she gets to know you, you have a friend forever.

She enjoys watching bird videos, so hopefully you have a tablet for her or even a big window. Minzy’s looking for a calm home environment where she can have plenty of time to acclimate. The only thing she asks is a home where there are no children under the age of 10. She likes it pretty quiet. Are you looking for a cat who is a good mix of independent and sweet? Look no further.

Baloo
Baloo Teryn Jones Special to The Star

Baloo

Breed: American pit bull terrier mix

Age: 3 years old

Look for your favorite Disney buddy at Wayside Waifs today. Baloo truly is a great buddy, because once he warms up to you, he’ll want to stay by your side. He was found by animal control, and no one came to claim him.

For a while, he was pretty shut down, but we enrolled him in our Confidence College program and he’s really started to come out of his shell. He’s showing his fun personality, and he’s quickly become a staff favorite because of his goofy antics. He is pretty calm and enjoys the company of people.

He coexists with calm dogs, but he prefers to soak up all the love and attention from his human companions. He is a great walker, and is getting comfortable with his crate training. He has even mastered “Sit”. The way to his heart is treats, and he is a pretty good treat catcher. If you give him time to warm up, you’ll have a friend for life.

Spike
Spike Nancy Gassmann Special to The Star

Spike

Breed: American bulldog

Age: 1 year old

Spike has a heart of gold. This guy’s tail wags nonstop when he meets a new person, and it keeps on wagging as he accepts all the pets and “good boys.” He’s a huge fan of playing with dogs and would do best with high-energy canine friends. Putting it simply, this dude at Melissa’s Second Chances does not belong at the shelter. He needs a forever home where he can soak up human affection. Any love you give, he’ll give back tenfold.
