Jewells
Jewells Special to The Star

Jewells

Breed: Hound

Age: 1 year old

Jewells is a sweet young girl looking for her forever family. Staff and volunteers have described her as goofy and funny. She’d like to find a family to curl up with on the couch after a long day of activities. She loves going for walks, playing with toys and enjoying a snack or two.

Jewells is really proud of the progress she’s made on leash, but she’d also love to be able to run around in a fenced-in yard to get some energy out. She gets along with other high-energy, playful dogs like her, so if you have someone like that in your home already, they just might be a pawsome match.

The best thing about hounds? Their voices. Jewells patrols our dog adoptions area to make sure everyone is on their best behavior when visitors come by, and she does a great job. Do you think she’s what you’re looking for?

Ginger
Ginger Teryn Jones Special to The Star

Ginger

Breed: Domestic shorthair/calico

Age: 2 years old

Ginger is a super sweet young lady who loves attention. She loves to receive pets, especially little chin scritches. She’s not super active, so she’ll never judge you if you skip a workout.

She would love to just stay by your side and relax, or find a nice sun spot to lounge around by. Her ideal home is one where she is the only cat. She just wants to soak up all of your love and attention. Ginger is FIV-positive, but that is not a negative. She can live as healthy of a lifestyle as a cat without FIV, so long as she receives regular veterinary care.

She’s also been known to give kisses, and talk to you about how her day is going. She promises to listen if you hear her out.

Shorty and Cleo
Shorty and Cleo Sara Burdick Special to The Star

Shorty and Cleo

Breeds: One Sheltie, one mixed

Ages: 5 years old, 2 years old

Shorty and Chloe have been through a lot — surviving broken jaws, legs and parvo — and they’ve been through it all together. They were saved from their awful situation by an incredible hero who saw something and did something. Since coming into Pawsitive Tails, they have been with an amazing foster who has allowed them to decompress and learn to trust again. They need to stay together.

Shorty, a 5-year-old Sheltie, is very shy and guarded but he will come up to you on his own terms. His social skills are improving as he learns to trust again. He will come and sit on your lap for a few gentle scratches for a short time. He loves lying on the couch and playing with his sister.

His best friend and guardian angel, Chloe, (2 years old) is very people friendly. She loves to snuggle and receive love. Chloe adores her brother and her favorite thing to do is to kiss his face. They absolutely love each other and love to play together.

While Chloe will play with other dogs, Shorty gets a little jealous when she does. Shorty relies on Chloe for a little more confidence with humans. A home with no little kids is best. As it takes Shorty a bit to warm up to other dogs, a home without other dogs would be idea, though other patient dogs in the home would probably be fine.

Shorty and Chloe are both potty and kennel trained. Their adoption fee is $225 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccines, and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives.

Go to www.pawsitivetailskc.org and click on “Apply to Adopt.” Meet and greets can be scheduled.

Wayside Waifs is able to welcome visitors without an appointment. To learn about the adoption process and available animals, visit www.waysidewaifs.org. Half-price dog and puppy adoptions are available through May. If you don’t find your pawsome match, we’ll give you a rain check valid until June 30.
