Ophelia
Ophelia

Ophelia

Breed: Staffordshire bull terrier mix (with beagle coloring)

Age: 1 year old

Did you know the name Ophelia is derived from Greek meaning “help?” Well, help is exactly what our housebroken, crate-trained dog needs: help finding a home of her own.

This sweet pup is just over a year old and is, in the words of her foster, “a really super good girl. And, well, her foster is also a dog trainer, so that’s a “professional opinion.” Ophelia is a frisky girl and loves to run and wrestle with other dogs. She would do well in a home with another dog her size (or bigger). Quiet, small dogs or cats would likely be overwhelmed by her playful antics. Ophelia loves her people, and she is super cuddly and loving. She’s kid-friendly and ready for a family of her own that will provide her plenty of exercise, playtime and snuggles.

Bud
Bud Amber Barron Special to The Star

Bud

Breed: Domestic shorthair mix

Age: 4 years old

Bud will live up to his name, because he is ready to be your bud(dy) for life. If you are looking for a fun, lovable man, he is the one for you. Bud loves to hang out with you, and he wants you to know just how much you mean to him. He is very easygoing, so he will be good in most home environments. He’s a big man, with an even bigger heart that he wears on his cute little orange sleeve. He loves to play with his toys, and his favorite is his wand toys. He is FIV+, which we know is not a negative. This just means he’ll need regular vet care like every other kitty out there, and can live a long and happy life just the same. Do you think you are ready for the sweetness of Bud? Come meet him today.

Cane
Cane Teryn Jones Special to The Star

Cane

Breed: Pet bull terrier mix

Age: 1 year old

Cane is a happy little guy who is smart, energetic and loves to love. He is an expert loose leash walker, and really enjoys playing with his toys. Cane is also really smart, and he loves to learn. This guy already knows “Sit, Down, Touch and Wait” — and the list is growing, as he’s currently enrolled in Waifs with Wisdom class. This class is for Wayside’s shelter pets to learn things while they’re in the shelter to show off to their new families. As you can see, Cane has a lot to show you.

Wayside Waifs is having a Spring Adopt-A-Thon from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 21 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22. Dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be $35. The shelter will be closed to the public on April 19 and 20 to prepare for the event. Visit www.waysidewaifs.org for more information.

Ophelia’s adoption fee is $175 and includes spay, microchip, vaccinations, and flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Visit www.pawsitivetailskc.org to apply.
