Merriam tech services company Absolute Computer Solutions is sold

Absolute Computer Solutions, a Merriam company that specializes in information technology services for the health care and aviation industries, has been acquired by an Iowa firm.

The buyer, Alliance Technologies, is based in Des Moines. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Absolute was started in 1993 by Dennis Strumberger. The company, at 5040 Antioch Road, has 15 employees.

All employees will be kept, Alliance said, and Strumberger will join the Alliance management team. Absolute’s customers will continue to be served by their current sales and support staff.

“Alliance covers all spectrums of technology, with a focus on trust and dependability, something that speaks to our core values as well,” Strumberger said in a news release.

Alliance was launched in 1994 and is part of the Iowa Network Services group of companies that offer voice, data and business services. INS is privately owned by a group of 122 Iowa independent telecommunications companies.

Steve Sikkink, president of Alliance Technologies, said the purchase “allows each company to tap into additional expertise and resources, ultimately offering customers a more comprehensive and diverse array of products and know-how.”

The acquisition is the latest in a recent string of expansion moves by Alliance. It acquired two businesses in 2013. In addition to its headquarters, Alliance has offices in Omaha, Minneapolis and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Alliance has 140 employees and is projecting revenue of $27 million in 2014.
