Lenexa medical services company acquires New York firm

AxelaCare Health Solutions, a Lenexa company that provides home medical infusion services, has made its second acquisition of 2014.

The 6-year-old firm Thursday announced the purchase of Advanced Care, a New York-based home intravenous therapy provider, for an undisclosed price.

AxelaCare said the purchase expands its home treatment network into the New York and New Jersey area, and it increases the number of pharmacies in its network to 18 nationwide.

Advanced Care, which was launched 25 years ago, has been called the “home infusion jewel of New York state ... with pharmacy and nursing offices throughout the state,” said Stuart Gittleman, Advanced Care’s CEO.

AxelaCare now has a presence on both coasts of the United States. In February, the company purchased Los Angeles-based ARC Infusion Corp. Inc. for an undisclosed price.

Home infusion covers a broad range of services and therapies for patients discharged from hospitals and receiving treatments at home. AxelaCare’s services include intravenous antibiotics, hydration, nutrition and other therapies.

AxelaCare, headquartered at 9801 Renner Blvd., was founded in July 2008 by Ted Kramm and his wife, Kathee Kramm. Ted Kramm is the CEO, while his wife is president. Both worked for US Bioservices before forming their own company.

Since 2008, the company has grown at least 40 percent annually, according to its website. It also continues to explore acquisitions.

Harvest Partners LP, a New York-based private equity firm, is a major investor in AxelaCare.

“AxelaCare continues to make strategic acquisitions to grow its unique platform in the healthcare sector and has shown impressive market growth with its efficient ... model that should expand as a larger share of the population seeks access to vital home infusion services,” Jay Wilkins, managing director at Harvest Partners, said in a statement.
