Business briefs: Shawnee Chamber up for national honors

Up for honors

The Shawnee Chamber of Commerce is one of three finalists for the 2015 Chamber of the Year award sponsored by WebLink International. The other finalists are Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce in Arizona and the Newnan Coweta Chamber of Commerce in California. The winner will be announced at the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives annual convention in Montreal on Aug. 11-14.

The finalists were selected based on their organizational strengths along with their impact on community priorities such as education, transportation, business development and quality of life.

Bank branch purchased

The Bank of Blue Valley has announced an agreement to acquire the Federal Savings Bank’s Overland Park branch at 7900 College Blvd. Bank of Blue Valley said it will acquire about $37 million in deposits under the agreement. It said it plans to consolidate that business, which represents about 1,000 customers, into its Overland Park branch located one mile away at 11935 Riley. No purchase price was disclosed.

Bank of Blue Valley is owned by Blue Valley Ban Corp.

New brand

Jeremy Services, formerly CTC Electrical, has launched a branding strategy that features comic strip style scenarios that depict characters in need of either electrical or heating and cooling help. The Mission-based company has also launched a website. The branding strategy and website were developed by the MarketingXchange Inc.
