Leawood’s Z Gallerie relocating — again

Z Gallerie, a home furnishings retailer, relocated to 4419 W. 119th St., in Town Center Crossing, to make way for the new Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams store.

Mitchell Gold took the former Z Gallerie space at 4563 W. 119th St.

Z Gallerie will continue to operate in its current space until the close of business on Monday. Then it will reopen in its temporary space — the former Restoration Hardware at 4853 W. 117th St. in Town Center Crossing — on May 30.

Meanwhile, its current Town Center Crossing space will be remodeled, including new maple floors and LED lighting. Z Gallerie is scheduled to reopen in two-thirds of that space in February 2016 and feature its spring 2016 collection. Another tenant will take one-third of the space.

Restoration Hardware plans to build a new multi-level, 46,796-square-foot store on the former 810 Zone site in Town Center Plaza.

Crowley opens furniture outlet

Crowley Furniture has converted one of its former locations into an outlet store.

The locally owned retailer operated a 22,000-square-foot store in The Fountains shopping center at 6327 W. 119th St., Overland Park, before relocating to Corbin Park. Now it has converted its Fountains store to an outlet store carrying sofas, loungers, chairs, mattresses and some bedroom furniture. The items are discounted for a variety of reasons, including special vendor deals, errors in custom orders and scratches or dents.

“We have lots and lots of bargains,” said Greg Crowley, owner.

The outlet store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. It is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Charles and Marilyn Crowley opened their first store in Excelsior Springs in 1954. Their son, Greg Crowley, took ownership in 1985. His wife, Beth, joined the business in 2000 and then their daughter, Laura Crowley, in 2003.

They also have stores in Lee’s Summit and Liberty.

Now open

▪ A first-floor lobby space in Prairiefire is now home to a locally owned shop.

Made in KC has opened in the 300-square-foot space in the Threshing Bee, 5501 W. 135th St., Overland Park. It is selling items made or designed in the Kansas City area, including T-shirts, socks, wallets, watchbands, jewelry, posters, woven wall hangings, ceramics and throws.

▪ Gigi’s Cupcakes has opened in Mission Crossing, 6027 Metcalf Ave., Mission.

The new shop, along with another new one in Blue Springs, are the first in the chain to open under its new bakery prototype. The design will help drive sales of menu items beyond just cupcakes. It has digital menu boards and new refrigerated counters displaying its cheesecakes, as well as other new products that require refrigeration, including truffles.
