Lenexa councilwoman resigns, creating vacancy
Longtime Lenexa City Councilwoman Amy Slater has resigned, after getting married and moving to Olathe.
Slater was first elected in 1999, representing Ward 3. City officials and colleagues praised her for serving during a time of record development and population growth.
Slater’s resignation creates a vacancy. Ward 3 residents interested in serving out the remainder of her term, which ends in January 2020, can apply to be appointed.
Applicants should submit a letter of interest by Oct. 20, describing previous community involvement, professional experience and reasons for wanting to serve. Letters should be sent to the City Clerk, 17101 W. 87th St. Parkway, Lenexa, Kan., 66219. The appointment is made by Mayor Michael Boehm.
Questions can be directed to City Administrator Eric Wade at ewade@lenexa.com or at 913-477-7550.
