Chiefs find little good news in preseason setback

The only good news to come out of the Chiefs’ 26-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks was this: It didn’t count.

Otherwise, the news was pretty grim in the Chiefs’ third preseason game Friday night at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field. Starting quarterback Alex Smith completed only seven of 17 passes for 44 yards, with several dropped balls. Misplays and miscues – including 14 penalties for 126 yards, didn’t help matters either.

But worst of all was the loss of staring running back Spencer Ware to a knee injury on the first drive of the game. The Chiefs reported that Ware sustained a torn posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and damaged the posterior lateral corner (LCL) of his right knee and is likely out for the rest of the season.

There was one bright spot, though: De’Anthony Thomas did run a kickoff back 95 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. But that couldn’t make up for a dismal night in the Pacific Northwest.
