Johnson County Fair brings old-fashioned fun
Cotton candy, corn dogs and carnival rides are in the air. Unplug and head outside for the 2017 Johnson County Fair — “Barn in the USA” — for some good old-fashioned fun. The family friendly, weeklong event will run from July 30 to Aug. 5 and feature everything from carnival rides and funnel cakes to livestock shows including sheep, swine and goats.
The fair dates back to 1939 and highlights both livestock and agriculture in Johnson County. The week’s events are free of charge, excluding carnival rides and evening arena events.

Sunday, July 30
Opening day begins with the ARBA Rabbit Show at 8 a.m. Free admission
Monday, July 31
Dog Show at 5 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 1
▪ Pedal Pull at 5:30 p.m., free
▪ Mutton Bustin’ - Signup begins at 5:30 p.m., attendance is free, participation is $10
Wednesday, Aug. 2
Dairy Goat Show at noon
Thursday, Aug. 3
Amateur Flat Track Races at 6 p.m.
Admission: Ages 5 and below: free; ages 6-12: $6; ages 13 and over: $12
Friday, Aug. 4
Six Appeal Vocal Band, 7:30 p.m., free
Saturday, Aug. 5
▪ Demolition Derby at 7 p.m., admission: $12
▪ Parade at 10:30 a.m. (arrive early for the best seats), free
